"The Usmani Collective" is a group of musicians led by Adam Usmani (vocalist, songwriter) and complemented with classical and jazz violin strains from his wife Coralie Usmani, electrifying solos and infectious grooves from guitarist Andrea Groenewald, and a rocking rhythm section courtesy of Ross Larsen (Bass) and Lenny Church (drums). Pumping out a mix of original tunes, instrumental meanderings and funky dance beats 'The Usmani Collective' is ready to entertain and inspire.

2010 has been a busy year for The Usmani Collective. The release of EP 'Searching' at the beginning of the year led to subsequent engagements at the 2010 and 2011 Mission Bay Jazz and Blues Festivals (Auckland) and the 2010 Whangamata Jazz Festival and the 2011 as well as local gigs in the Auckland area. To pack an extra punch the group also collaborates with guest artists regularly (past guests include Alexandra Ioan, Moses Tokuma, Tristan Hancock, Elad Katz, Yair Katz, Lily Neumegen and Robert Ashworth).

The opening lyrics on the debut EP ‘Searching’ by ‘The Usmani Collective’, the product of almost a decade of searching on the part of Adam Usmani, the groups leader and primary singer/songwriter. And its been one big long search, all while getting married, having a child, maintaining the day job as an electrician, watching bands come together and fall away again, buying a house, producing a TV show (Top of the Rocks on ALT TV 2006), starting a business…however, in the foreground all these years has been the dream to create music that inspires and appeals to a wide range of people.
